A Unique Shade of Therapy

Provider Bio - Rosa King

I believe that you are the expert of your life. Thoughts and feelings can be overwhelming or confusing, but you are feeling and thinking that way for a reason: let’s explore it together. You won’t just lay on a couch while I psychoanalyze you!

I grew up wanting to become an interior designer because I believed my home should be beautiful, as my childhood home was overcrowded and cluttered. Now I believe the mind is our home and that should be beautiful as well.

I did become an interior designer, but when the recession hit and I was laid off, my anxiety went through the roof. For a time, it seemed everything in my life was making me anxious: tests, relationships, clutter, being a new mom… the list goes on.

I sought my own therapy, and I learned I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I have explored how my anxiety goes back to my childhood, and I also learned coping skills to manage my anxiety when it stops by to say ‘hello.’

After the recession, I decided to take a new career direction by helping others. Working in case management inspired me to return to school and obtain my master’s degree in counseling. I could use my creative skills and apply it to helping my clients.

I have a hands-on approach to treatment. I want my clients to see results as they develop. I utilize gardening, videos, handouts, and include healthy eating and exercise in treatment. My clients will walk away with practical skills for a lifetime.

My creativity feeds my therapeutic practice. I adjust to the needs of my clients and can be direct or softer in my approach as needed. I help my clients understand themselves better and identify the best way to live the life they were dealt. Teaching my clients how to manage themselves and accept others for who they are helps them to thrive. We will get to work and develop solutions and results for your issues. How sweet would it be to never allow others to “make you feel” some type of way that you do not want to feel. Layer by layer, we will figure things out together. Let me help you help yourself.

In addition to becoming a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, I earned my certificate in horticultural therapy and I am a certified fitness personal trainer. The mind and the body need each other! Currently, I am studying nutritional psychology. I conduct therapy sessions with couples, individuals and late teens. I have over thirteen years of social service experience, five years of crisis management experience and over six years of counseling experience.
